2022 Ford Explorer | Trail, BC

2022 Ford Explorer | Trail, BC

For the ultimate outdoor SUV, consider the adventurous Ford Explorer. This midsize crossover is available as a hybrid, too, so you can help protect the environment while you’re exploring the world around you.

Performance & Capabilities

The standard under the hood of the 2022 Explorer is a 2.3-litre EcoBoost® engine that is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Combined, this powertrain delivers 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. With this setup, you can expect to tow up to 5,300 pounds when the Explorer is equipped with an available tow package.

For even more brawn, the 3.0-litre EcoBoost® engine on ST and Platinum models produces 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. This results in a max towing capacity of up to 5,600 pounds when properly equipped. If you’d prefer to blend that power with efficiency, the Explorer Hybrid can offer as low as 8.4 L/100 km on the highway.[1]

Outside of these numbers, the Explorer is ready for adventure thanks to standard Intelligent 4WD with the Terrain Management System™. This system lets you choose from seven drive modes to suit your needs: Normal, Deep Snow/Sand, Trail, Sport, Slippery, Tow/Haul, and Eco.

[1] Estimated Fuel consumption ratings based on Government of Canada approved test methods. Le/100 km is the Government of Canada equivalent measure of gasoline fuel efficiency for electric mode operation. Actual fuel consumption will vary.

Exterior Design

The Ford Explorer has an iconic design that is recognizable no matter where you’re headed. Along with being stylish, the exterior is also functional with its many helpful features. The standard power liftgate opens at the touch of a button and lets you load and unload groceries or your gear with ease. Signature LED lighting illuminates the path ahead while power and heated sideview mirrors make chilly mornings a breeze.

Across the entirety of the SUV, you’ll find chrome detailing to elevate its design. But if you’re looking for a more adventure-ready-looking vehicle, consider the Explorer Timberline. This off-road vehicle comes with exclusive details like a unique dark carbonized grey grille, a black liftgate appliqué, 18-inch high gloss black-painted aluminum wheels with a laser-etched Timberline logo, and more. There’s no shortage of style with the Explorer, as the ST-Line, Limited, and ST models all offer a variety of exciting elements to match your preferences.

Interior Features

When you choose an SUV, you want one that is comfortable and convenient on the inside. The interior of the 2022 Explorer is filled with high-quality materials and features that are incredibly useful. The base XLT model comes with tri-zone electronic automatic temperature control so the first and second row can create their ideal climate settings. Speaking of the second row, the Explorer comes with an E-Z Entry second row for ease of access to the third row.

That’s just the beginning when it comes to the versatility of the Explorer’s interior. The SUV offers up to 2,486 litres of space behind the first row for all of your gear. The 50/50 fold-flat rear seatbacks make loading cargo especially easy, too. Not only that, but you can add the available Cargo Management System that provides you with extra pockets on the side of the cargo area as well as under-floor storage for smaller, more valuable items.

Infotainment Technology

Ford knows you’re busy and that you need to stay connected to your life, even when you’re on the go. As such, the new Explorer is equipped with advanced infotainment technology to make life easier. The standard touch screen can be upgraded to an expansive 10.1-inch LCD capacitive portrait touch screen that modernizes the cabin.

All Explorer models come with a FordPass Connect™ trial so you can remotely connect to the SUV and do things like check fuel levels, start the engine, or lock the doors. This comes with a Wi-Fi hotspot that allows up to 10 devices to connect, making those longer journeys even more enjoyable. Available tech features include a wireless charging pad, a voice-activated navigation system, and the B&O® sound system by Bang & Olufsen®.

Safety Technology

The technology within the 2022 Explorer isn’t just for fun. Thanks to the many standard and available systems, the Explorer is also incredibly safe. All models are equipped with systems like AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ and the SOS Post-Crash Alert System.

But beyond those features and more, the Explorer comes with many standard driver-assist systems, too. The Lane-Keeping System includes Lane-Keeping Assist, Lane-Keeping Alert, and Driver Alert System so you’re always ready to change lanes safely. Rear parking sensors and the rear-view camera with a washer ensure you’re manoeuvering well into tight spots or out of your driveway.

One of the most exciting standard features, though, is the Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control system. This technology will automatically adjust your cruising speed to create a safe distance between you and the vehicle ahead.

The best way to experience the 2022 Ford Explorer is to get inside and take it for a test drive. Contact our team or visit us at AM Ford Sales in Trail, BC, for more details.
