2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Preview | Trail, BC

2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Preview | Trail, BC

Ford recently unveiled the all-new 2022 F-150 Lightning electric truck. This innovative pickup features incredible driving range, advanced technology, and the toughness you’d expect from a Ford pickup — all wrapped up in a modern, appealing exterior.

Performance and Fuel Efficiency

With its electric motor featuring a lithium-ion battery pack, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is capable of achieving 563 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque — more torque than any F-150 ever.1 Payload caps at 2,000 pounds while you can expect to tow up to 10,000 pounds on XLT and Lariat trucks with the extended-range battery and Max Trailer Tow Package. With all that power, Ford estimates that the F-150 Lightning is able to go 0-60 mph in the mid-4-second range.

You can go further for longer with the new F-150 Lightning. This electric truck is estimated to travel 370 km with its standard-range battery and 483 km with the extended-range battery.2 Thanks to smart features in the cabin that alert you when the F-150 Lightning’s battery falls below one-third of its total range, you’ll know exactly when it’s time to charge up, too.

Advanced Technology

The new SYNC® 4A infotainment system is making its debut on the F-150 Lightning Lariat and Platinum trims. This tech has an updated 15.5-inch touch-screen interface that was designed to adapt to driver behaviour. Not only that, but SYNC® 4A uses a combination of cloud-connected navigation, wireless access, and natural voice control to access helpful services like integrated Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and SYNC® AppLink™ apps.

Another impressive feature on the Ford F-150 Lightning is BlueCruise. This driver-assist tech is a part of the Ford Co-Pilot360™ suite and provides true hands-free driving in Hands-Free Blue Zones. Currently, there are over 160,000 km of pre-qualified divided highways in Canada and the U.S, with more to come in the future.3

Built Ford Tough™ Work Features

Part of what makes a Ford truck so appealing is its ability to work hard at job sites. The F-150 Lightning is exceptionally functional, capable, and versatile, allowing you to traverse uneven terrain and power up all of your tools. The truck’s standard 4x4; new independent rear suspension; all-new steel frame; and high-strength, military-grade aluminum alloy body make it durable and ready for any task.

The 2022 F-150 Lightning is equipped with Pro Power Onboard, which features 9.6 kWh of exportable power, 10 120V outlets (four in the front trunk, four in the bed, and two in the cab), and a 240V/30-amp outlet in its bed. And thanks to all-new, available Ford Intelligent Backup Power, the F-150 Lightning can bring that power home, too. With the extended-range battery pack, it can power up your home during an outage for up to three days on a fully charged battery.4

Lightning Pro

Commercial customers can choose the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro for their fleet. These work-ready trucks come with a standard range battery and dual motor power 4x4 to produce 426 horsepower. The first-ever Ford Mega Power Frunk on the Lightning Pro provides 14.1 cubic feet of storage that is water-tight, lockable, and capable of carrying up to 400 pounds. This multipurpose front trunk also comes with four 120V outlets and two USB ports so you can stay charged and connected on the go.

Adding to the convenience of the F-150 Lightning Pro are available Onboard Scales that let you monitor payload and provide more accurate range calculations as you travel. Every 2022 F-150 Lightning Pro is equipped with vehicle pre-conditioning that not only gets the cabin comfortable before your trip, it also maximizes range and can help prolong the life of the truck’s battery.

1Based on manufacturer testing using computer engineering simulations. Calculated via peak performance of the electric motor(s) at peak battery power. Your results may vary.

2Excludes Platinum models. Based on full charge. U.S. EPA-targeted range based on analytical projection consistent with US EPA combined drive cycle. Actual range varies with conditions such as external environment, vehicle use, vehicle maintenance, lithium-ion battery age and state of health.

3BlueCruise - Driver-assist features are supplemental and do not replace the driver’s attention, judgment and need to control the vehicle. BlueCruise is a hands-free highway driving feature. Only remove hands from the steering wheel when in a Hands-Free Blue Zones. Always watch the road and be prepared to resume control of the vehicle. It does not replace safe driving. See owner's manual for detail and limitations.
